Kells Musical & Dramatic Society by it's very name, has also delivered on Drama. Our very first "Evening of Drama" was held in December 1996 with two one act plays. "The Sky is over cast" Directed By John Grant, and "Cassidy's Chair" Directed by Kevin Segrave.
In 1999 three one act plays were staged in Oliver Usher's Auction Rooms. "Maeves Return" Written and Directed by Kevin Segrave. "Marty" and "The Marriage Plan" Directed by John Grant. The Latter three plays will be performed this year in the Ramor Theatre Virginia, Co. Cavan
As our contribution to the parish in the Jubilee year 2000 "The Passion Play" was performed on Good Friday for the first time ever in Kells. This Production was outstanding success and was directed by John Grant with Lighting by Brian O' Neill

Drama is very strong in Kells Community School with thanks to the principal Mr. Eamon Potter, Mr Carney, Mr McLoughlin and Mr Jim Murphy, Tommy Smith and John Farrell. John Grant was invited to bring drama to the students and as a result have produced... A Christmas Concert, Improvised Social Topics and more recently "The Sky is Overcast", "Cassidy's Chair", "The Field" and just last year "Top Table" and "Marty" which won best best director for John Grant and best supporting actor for John Conaty in the Meath Youth Drama Festival. Our society is delighted to be associated with the school.
This colourful extravaganza with a strong cast of 30 was first performed outdoors on 12th July 1992 in the grounds of St. Columba's church as part of the Kells Heritage Festival. Over 200 people were present and treated to an hour long story of the life of St. Colmcille the Patron Saint of Kells, and life in Ireland at that time. We were grateful to Rev. Richie and the committee of St. Columba'a church for allowing us the use of the church grounds.
The society were invited to perform at St. Ciaran Well festival in 1996, Again in June 1997 as part of the 1600th Anniversary of St. Colmcille. It was seen by an international audience who were retracing the steps of Colmcille, and in this production we were grateful to members of Kells Foroige, Vinnie Ginnity and John Moore, and the Rev. Richie for inviting us to perform
The latest production of our pagent was performed by our own members on 12th November 2000 as part of an open day for the new Heritage Centre in Kells.
