| Vivian's singing career started
at 15 as part of the girl group Shao Nu DUi (Lady Team). They released two albums,
the second of which contained Vivian's first song in which she sang solo. In 1996
she released her first solo album, singing in Japanese. Tensi Xiang was re-mixed and
re-released in late 1998 allowing people who missed out on her first album to hear these
songs. In Japan she also sang with the group Black Biscuits. They released four singles in total with versions in Japanese and Chinese (I prefer her Chinese vocal as it sounds stronger than when she sings in Japanese). Most recently she has recorded her second Mandarin album "Unbeatable Lover". Unlike her first Mandarin album "Da Ma Fan" (which has quite a few club-oriented songs like Black Biscuits) this new album is a complete change of style more reminiscent of her first couple of solo albums. It is Vivian being quite adventurous and it works really well for me. Thanks to my friend Vincent at Hong Kong Black Biscuits World, I now also have Da Ma Fan and Unbeatable Lover (if anyone can tell me where I can get a copy of Tensi Bishojo or the original release of Tensi Xiang - even second hand - please let me know) and I've made a few tracks available from each for you to hear what Vivian sounds like. I may release the full albums in 96KB MP3 or non-downloadable VQF format later. Basically I don't want people to just take the mp3s and not buy the albums, (you'll miss out on the nice pictures if nothing else!!) Click on any of the thumbnails for details on each album. |
