Report: Cork City
are fourth in the Eircom League Premier Division tonight
after a 1-0 victory over lowly Finn Harps at Turners
Cross.
Goalkeeper Michael Devine was the hero
for the home side as he pulled off a string of fine
saves to deny the Finn Harps attack.
The only goal of the game came in the
fourth minute after Harps player-manager Gavin Dykes
handled the ball inside the area and Pat Morley scored
from the spot to give Cork an ideal start.
Cork had a number of chances themselves
following that goal to extend their lead. However, it
was Devine who ensured that Cork would take all three
points as Harps threw everything forward to try for
an equaliser.
In the dying moments, Morley had a chance
for a second goal but Harps keeper Gareth Downey saved
well. Cork are now just two points behind leaders Shelbourne.
