Choral Ireland: eGroup Messages

Messages are the original core of discussion eGroups. There is open access for non-members to view the Choral Ireland eGroup Messages archive area. Members can send Messages freely to the general membership of the eGroup. So can non-members, though this requires the 'electronic blessing' of the Choral Ireland moderator as the Messages journey their way through to the eGroup.

Some Messages are notifications of upcoming events or reviews of recent performances. Others share information of possible use to other eGroup Members. Some will discuss topics of general interest to Choral Ireland eGroup Members. It is not intended, though, that discussion would go too far beyond the broad interests of the eGroup and its aims.

How does it work?

The process works simply by sending your e-mail message to the eGroup address. The eGroup site then automatically redistributes it to each of the e-mail subscribers and also stores it in the Choral Ireland eGroup Messages archive area for viewing by web subscribers and subsequent new Members or other visitors to the archive.

As an e-mail subscriber, it is possible never to visit the eGroup and still make full use of the website's original discussion function. As a web subscriber, it is possible to take full advantage of the rest of the eGroup's facilities, and only visit the Message archive area if and when it suits. This latter option may be of value, for instance, to Members only interested in the upcoming events Calendar.

Are we having fun yet?

Whenever an e-mail 'discussion' gets going is when we know the eGroup is truly functioning the way it was intended.
