Díotóir is mostly made from standard aluminium but uses some alclad in certain areas.  The frame is made from inch box alu and the base is 3mm alu sheet.  The sides and top are 6mm alclad (aero-spec) and the only piece of steel is the weapon arm which is a metre of 4mm T-section.

is a metre of 4mm T-section.

Here's how the weapon works:

The weapon arm is attached to two car suspension springs and a chain which in turn is connected to a hydraulic ram.  This hydraulic ram is used to pull the arm down against the springs and so compress them.  When the springs are suffiently compressed, the arm is then locked in position by a geometric lock at the back of the weapon arm.  A small nudge with an electric actuator offsets the balance of the geometric lock and fires the weapon.  The hydraulic ram only uses 50% of its available power to compress the springs and the other 50% can be used to crush robots.
