Gordon Tyrrell's 1999
Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa
I Just bought this bike, new, from
PlanetMoto on Dorset St. in Dublin.
They are by far the best people to deal with and take a new approach
to selling bikes. You arrive at the shop and get coffee or tea. You get
offered test drives (yeh, you heard me right) and plenty of advice on
your choice of bike (but Alan still didn't persuade me to buy a Blackbird).
The prices are excellent and the warrantee offered is better than all the
other places I visited. On to the bike.
The Hayabusa (hired-bus) is the most powerful street bike
every built with
173bhp from it's 4-cylinder 1300cc engine with a weight of only 212kg giving
it an insane power-to-weight ratio. Roadtests have produced the following results:
| Distance/Speed measured | Time |
| 0-60mph | 2.6secs |
| 0-100mph | 7secs |
| 0-145mph | 10secs |
| Top Speed | 200.2mph |
Note: The McLaren F1 0-100mph time is 7.4secs
