MR2 Performance parts
Excellent quality, great performance and 2nd to none
service. Check out the exhaust on my car and Dave
Kelly's on the Irish Owners page. Ram Air pics to
follow as soon as it's fitted. Great personal service
from Jeff. |

RMS RAM Air System

Instructions |
| This is the Ram Air system
developed by Jeff at Rebel Motorsports. The pipe enables
the cone filter to be fitted away from the engine, down towards the side vent of the left hand side of the car. This means the air passing through
the filter is cooler and being forced in instead of
just sucking, therefore giving more power. Fitting is straight forward and can be
done DIY once you have the correct tools. Pics of system fitted
along with comments to follow. On the Japanese import
cars there is no AFM so the pipe attaching to the cone filter is longer and goes directly
into the accordian type rubber piping (pics to follow). The modification stopped the
banging that is present with the straight through exhaust system due to petrol making it's
way through the system without burning. The power is more instant than simply with the
exhaust alone. Verdict: Excellent performance and sound. |
RMS DESP (Dual Exit Straight Pipe)
Exhaust System

 |
| This is the best bit of kit I've ever bought.
It's the straight through exhaust designed by Jeff at
Rebel Motorsports. As you can see there is no back
box. This reduces weight, aswell as increasing air flow thus reducing turbo spin up times. This reduces the dreaded turbo lag
in the car. The increase in acceleration is immediately
noticable. The build quality is exceptional and
fitting is relatively easy although I resorted to a
mechanic as it wasn't an area I had ventured into before and required the removal of some bump stops that are required for the original exhaust
system. For the record you need to lose the central, triangular
shaped, bump stop completely. Another feature which I
liked is that you get to choose you own tips. I chose
4.25" chrome with rolled edges and I think they fill the cutouts for the original exhaust perfectly. With the rolled edges they
don't look too big either. But the biggest benefit to
the system is the absolutely awesome noise. It is
truely incredible. Your neighbours may not like you but when you open the car up the noise is just incredible, then, just when you
think you've heard
the best of it you back of the throttle and the car pops and burbles like a full on race car. I love it
completely. You will need to advance your timing, from the standard car's 10 Degrees, to
12 Degrees but once you do this the throttle response
in instantaneous and the car runs a treat. BUY ONE. I
dare you not to. |
RMS Supplied ZEN Blow-Off Valve

|
(Better pics to follow soon). I installed this
system today (17th Nov '98) so haven't had much driving to give a full
review on it but immediate impressions are that boost stays on
much better. A gear change after a full throttle run
gives a high pitched hiss,
much higher then the standard item if you vent that to the air but unlike the standard
valve boost is still almost full by the time you
change gear. I means the surge is more constant on full acceleration with out the annoying
(although slight) delays for boost build-up between
ratios. Initial impressions are excellent. I'll update after a week or so of driving.
Absolutely simple to install. I did it myself (and I'm
a coward when it comes to engine). Another great product from jeff at Rebel. |

Toyota MR2 Cupholder
|
| This is the Toyota cupholder modification
designed for the section below the stereo normally housing an open tray for bit's and
pieces. It is split into two sections. The upper one is the cupholder and the lower one is
a useful coin try (loaded with Toll Booth tokens as you can see). The unit is signed for
right hand drive models in that when you open the cupholder, it doesn't come straight out
but rather curves slightly towards the driver side right). This is only ver slight and
won't effect it's use in left-hand drive models. The unit, as you would expect from
Toyota, is of excellent quality. Why they didn't fit it as standard I will never know. Buy
one. You'll like it. |
