Into the West is a big imposing bay stallion and is an exciting prospect for
Irish showjumping breeders, giving them access to an historic line of
performance tested horses from France, Germany and Holland and Hungary, mixed
with some famous thoroughbred sires.
He is presently being showjumped himself, having reached Grade C standard. He
is available to breeders through A.I., frozen semen or natural service.
Into the West is a 1990 fully approved stallion standing 16.3hh with 9.5in.
bone. He passed his full inspection by the Irish Horse Board in 1993. He is
reckoned to be one of the best bred stallions to come out of Ireland so far,
being by the great Ramiro Z, sire of the Olympic and World gold Medallist Ratina
Z and the number one sire of international showjumpers in the World Breeding
Federation league table.
Ramiro Z died in 1996 so it is commendable to have a young son of his to
stand at stud in Ireland. Ramiro Z lines trace back to the famous thoroughbred
Cottage Son, a fabulous pedigree which combined first class racing and
steeplechasing lines.
Cottage Son sired many top class showjumpers, including the sire of Daka and
the dam of Caletto II who was the sire of Classic Touch, an individual fold
Medalist for showjumping at the Barcelona Olympics.
On his dam's side, Into the West is out of Français, who is by Jasper, also
known as "The Little One" (son of the TB Courville).
Jasper won many top competitions internationally, such as the Paris Grand
Prix and the Hamburg Derby. Also on Into the West's Dams side is the famous
Selle Française Alme, who was the sire of Galoubet, Jalisco, and many other top
showjumping sires.
It is hoped that, when crossed with good Irish
sport horse and thoroughbred mares, Into the West will produce many top class
showjumpers.
