Peter Ebdon stormed through to the final of the British Open with a convincing victory over Scotland’s Alan McManus.

The world number 12, who beat Ronnie O’Sullivan in a a thrilling quarter-final 5-3, made breaks of 56, 76, 112 and 57 to come from 2-2 at the interval to make the final for the second year in succession.

"We both got off to a dodgy start but Keith Warren, my manager, gave me a good talking to during the break and got me focused," said Ebdon. "I came back out completely zoned in and started to play like I did against Ronnie."

McManus, the world number eight, had few complaints after being blitzed by Ebdon's one-man show.

He said: "Peter played some fantastic snooker and I didn't get much of a look after the interval. Every time I had half a chance he jumped on me. I felt all right at 2-2 but Peter raised his game to another level."
