Pentecost All-Night Vigil in Knock Shrine

 The highlight of the 22 Jubilee Year initiatives of the Irish School of Evangelisation was a Pentecost All-Night Vigil in Knock Shrine, Ireland's Marian Basilica, attended by 4,500.   The principal Guest Speaker was Archbishop Paul Cordes DD, Rome, President of ‘Cor Unum’.   The media reported his most inspiring homily and talk extensively.   Bishop Thomas Finnegan DD  assisted the Archbishop.

 Dana Rosemary Scallon MEP also addressed the Pentecost gathering.   Her testimony was greeted with rapturous applause.   All the Catholic Papers covered the event extensively.

 Prior to the All-night Vigil Archbishop Cordes addressed a meeting of 27 of the New Movements in Ireland.   Speaking to a capacity audience in the Knock House Hotel the Archbishop spoke about his recent meeting with Pope John Paul II prior to departing for Ireland.  He said that the Pope asked him to convey his fraternal greetings and Apostolic Blessing to all present.    He assured us we were in the Pontiff's prayer.  He said that the Pope had entrusted the 'New Evangelisation' to the 'New Movements'.

Jubilee Paul Course & Prague '00

 Our Jubilee 'Paul Course' - January to May 2000 -  was attended by 65 Young Participants.   It was non-residential and their enthusiasm knew no bounds.   5 of the Participants went on to take part in the International Summer School in the Czech Republic last August and received further training in Evangelisation from the 'Community of John the Baptist'

Prague:   Ger Nevin, ISOE Council Member and Marie Briody, Service Team who attended the Summer School in the Czech Republic - August ‘00.

Healing Retreats - Fr Ricardo Arganaraz

 In February and November we organised 2 Healing Retreats under the direction of Fr Ricardo Arganaraz, Founder of the Community of John the Baptist.   Testimonies of inner healing were recorded.

An International Summer School - Dublin

 An International Summer School in late June was addressed by Bishop Martin Drennan DD, Auxiliary Bishop of Dublin, Sr Mary O'Duffy and Fr Emmanuele De Nardi from the Koinonia Giovanni Battista.

Oikos Centres of Prayer

  'OIKOS' Centres of Prayer were begun in 3 locations,  Dublin, Athlone and Ferbane.

  Presentations on the New Evangelisation

 Our "Autumn Programme" of Evangelisation included Presentations on the New Evangelisation, ‘Philip’ and 'Emmaus' Retreats.   The latter was found to be particularly powerful and was enthusiastically received in many locations.  

Sligo:   Fr Ronan Cusack OP (L) and his Core Group, who organised a Presentation on the New Evangelisation.

Annual ISOE Retreat

 Our Jubilee Year ended with our 5 th Annual Retreat at Christmas.   50 participants filled All Hallows Retreat Centre in December for the 'Kerygma of Mary'.   This Retreat was co-presented by the Community of John the Baptist and the Irish School of Evangelisation.

Ireland for Pentecost 2002 May 16/19.]

The Jubilee Year was a great 'Lord’s year of favour' (Luke. 4:19) for the Irish School of Evangelisation.   We noted particularly a strong presence of the Lord and a mighty outpouring of grace in all our undertakings.    Mary, Mother of Perpetual Help, patroness of the ISOE opened new doors of opportunity to us.     Praise Jesus.!!!

 

Having been lead into the Jubilee and inspired by ‘Tertio Millennio Adveniente’ we now go forward into 2001 and beyond with 'Novo Millennio Ineunte' in hand, seeking every opportunity to spread the Gospel of Peace and the consolation of the Holy Spirit.
