The idea for doing a web page about County Wexford was brought about through looking at different web pages on the area in which I live. I have played around a bit with different colours for the background and text. I have now decided to do a grey background, #333333, text is green, #669966, I'm also including link colours, which are different shades of green for link, visited link and active link. After all I'm in Ireland and the page is about a County in Ireland.
I have made a folder on my hard named vu and I have saved my first web page
in this folder and named it assign01.html. I'm going to try to make one page
every week to put into practice the things I'm learning. The link to these pages
is at the end of this page.
Since working on the page and reading different things on the web I have decided to use a different font on the Wexford pages. I have used, in order of choice, Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif. I have also saved some pages as links this was done to test them out. I'm really pleased things are looking pretty good. I'm enjoying this.
I have found that I can't use the font Verdana for the Euro symbol the font just does not support it. This is not the only font I've checked my fonts folder and found quite a few. However the most popular fonts do support it.
I downloaded the HTML Reference Library today. I find it fascinating, a wealth of information for anyone learning HTML. This surely must be one of the best links given on the course.
Have now sorted the Euro symbol problem. There are updates on the Microsoft web site and I have downloaded and installed the fonts I needed.
