Notebook Two
Monday 07th August 2000
This
is the picture, block.gif ,down loaded from the Virtual University web site
and placed here using the align left attribute. It was, then I decided to change
to a nicer view. I can carry on writing here and the text will wrap to the left
of the picture. The only problem I have at the moment is thinking of what to
write. I will just go on and on rambling about nothing in particular until I
get to the base of the picture and then I'll stop. Do you like this colour scheme?
I found a free program called HTML Paint Brush. It is very small, simple to
use and gives you the colours of background, text, and links which you can then
copy or paste into your HTML. I got the program from Tucows
I've managed to put a link in. That's it I've wrapped way past the picture and
I'm going to start a new paragraph. No, I've changed my mind I'm starting a
new heading.
Review and Recap
- Yes I created and used a template file.
- Yes I saved my template as an HTML file.
- I began my virtual notebook and performed the exercises.
Types of Lists
- The list above is an ordered list.
- This list is an unordered list with the attribute type="circle".
- A third type of list
is a definition list which is used below. There are also other list types such as Menu which creates a single column menu list and Directory which creates a multicolumn directory list.
- Guinness
- A very dark and frothy
stout, sometimes called porter. A traditional Irish drink.
- Leprechauns
- Little fairy type people,
usually seen sitting on top of a pot of gold by people who drink Guinness.
- The HTML Reference
Library
- A fantastic resource
that you can download and keep at hand for looking up things like how to do
a definition list.

- Microsoft's Typography
On the Web
- I found this site especially
useful as I was having problems with certain fonts not showing the Euro currency
symbol. Here I found updated fonts for download and a lot of information about
typography in general. This font is Verdana, if you have it installed on your computer you'll
see this the way I see it. Here is the link. http://www.microsoft.com/typography/default.asp
- Color Picker from
Chunting Software
- It's a small utility
to let you find out the RGB Hex Code of a colour from anywhere on your screen.
It opens as a little window showing the colour your mouse is pointing over.
It then displays the hex numbers for that colour for you to use in your html
coding http://www.chunting.com Also
available from Tucows and its freeware.

A free text editor that will take the place of Notepad. You'll wonder how
