The Malin Seniors suffered their first defeat of the season when they lost by a scoreline of 3.10 to 2.8. Malin never really got going in the first half and trailed 1.4 to 0.4 at half- time. All of Malin's first half scores came from Anthony Kelly, 3 of which were frees. Brendan McGonigle opened Malin's account for the second half with a well taken point but Buncrana replied with a goal after a mix up in the Malin defence.
The Buncrana keeper produced a breath taking save from Patrick Kelly who was set up by his 2 younger brothers. Anthony Kelly added 2 more points before Paul Doherty levelled the game with a well taken goal. Buncrana restored their lead before Anthony struck over another free. Buncrana then scored 1.3 without reply. Paul Doherty scored a goal from the penalty spot in the closing stages but it was not enough and Buncrana deserved their victory.
