Urris 1-05 0-11 Malin

The Senior game between these two local rivals was a spirited and hard fought encounter. Urris were the first to settle and raced into a 3 point lead in the opening minutes. Malin's first score of the game came from Anthony Kelly, more points followed from the boots of Danny Lafferty, Liam O'Neill and Brendan McGonigle who finished the game with an impressive 0.4. The sides were level at half time 0.5 to O.5. Some harsh words from manager Pat McLaughlin at the break certainly had the desired effect as within seconds of the restart Martin Lafferty had Malin in front for the first time in the match.

Urris refused to lie down and rocked Malin when they scored a well taken goal. Just when it looked as if the game was beginning to run away from Malin, they found inspiration in the form of Captain Paul Doherty who scored a free from all of 50 yards. That score proved to be the turning point as Malin scored 4 unanswered points from Patrick Kelly, Danny Lafferty, Sean Kelly and Brendan McGonigle. Urris went all out in search of a goal in the closing minutes but could not pass a Malin defence well marshalled by Paul Lafferty.
