Malin 0-14 Buncrana 4-13

Malin were soundly beaten by Buncrana in the All County League Division 3 in Malin Park on Sunday. Malin can have no complaints as the Buncrana men went on a goal spree in the second half.

Malin were first to settle when Anthony Kelly scored an early point. Patrick Kelly increased Malin's lead when he latched onto a loose ball and fired over the bar. Malin were looking rampant when Danny Lafferty and Anthony Kelly combined to free. Martin Lafferty and he sent a sweetly struck left foot shot over the bar. Buncrana notched up their first point of the match but Anthony Kelly replied with 2 points, 1 of which came form a side ball. Buncrana fired over 2 points before Anthony Kelly pointed from a free. Gaps were soon appearing in the Malin defence and it was not long before Buncrana had the ball in the net. This goal really spurred on the visitors who soon added 3 points. Points from Liam O'Neill and Martin Lafferty left the bare minimum between the sides at the break. The halftime score was Malin 0.8 to Buncrana 1.6.

Buncrana opened the scoring in the second half but Patrick Kelly replied with a point for the home side. Buncrana then scored a fortunate goal as the ball struck a divot and bounced over the shoulder of a stunned Liam Lafferty. Malin looked to have put the set back behind them as they increased the tempo and scored 3 points from Anthony Kelly this left just one point between the sides. Buncrana then scored a superb goal when a forward hammered an unstoppable shot into the top corner. Malin never really recovered after this set back, although an Anthony Kelly free reduced the deficit.

Buncrana pointed again but Patrick Kelly replied for Malin. Malin were fighting a losing battle at this stage and Gavin Cullen was causing all sorts of problems in the Malin defence. It was all one way taffic at this stage and 2 Buncrana points were followed by another goal. Buncrana scored another 3 points in the closing minutes and ran out convincing winners by 11 points.
