The Beatles

All the members of the band were born in Liverpool. The core songwriting pair were John Lennon and Paul McCartney. They met at a Wooltan Parish Church fête in 1957. George Harrison also became a member Stuart Sutcliffe joined as bass player and they called themselves “The Beatles”.

Paul McCartney was born on June 18th 1942,George Harrison was born on Feb 25th  1943,John Lennon was born on October 9th 1940 and Richard Starkey, best known as Ringo Starr was born on July 7th 1940.

 They First played together as schoolboys. In the late 1950s “The Beatles” were just beginning to get attention, they played for a small amount of clubs in Liverpool,  Hamburg and in West Germany. The original drummer was replaced in 1962 by Ringo Starr. The Beatles first record was “love me do” was written in 1957 by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, and was released in October 1962.

 They went to the United States in 1964 and were a huge success. The had five singles at the top of the charts, at the same time. They released there first film A Hard Day’s Night.

The last concert appearance of The Beatles was in San Francisco in 1966 and they officially broke up in 1970, rumors went around for about ten years, that The Beatles were going to get back together, but John Lennon was murdered in New York City in 1980, and that put an end to that. In the nineties the three surviving members, Paul, George and Ringo, released the “Anthologies”.

The Beatles music is ageless.
