John Lennon

John Lennon was born in Liverpool in England. In 1996 John said that they were more popular then Jesus at the height of the Beatles success. He caused a storm of controversy in the U.S. by passing that remark

. With Lennon’s  wit and Paul McCartney's gift for melody, resulted in one of the most successful songwriting partnerships of this century. They had smash hits, such as “Yesterday”, “Hey Jude” and “She loves you”.

 Born into an unstable home and brought up by his Aunt Mimi, who ran a strict house hold His father turned up 5 years later trying to take Lennon away from his mother. She wouldn’t let him go. John begged his aunt to buy him a guitar. She bought him a guitar and told him he wasn’t going to go far, but he ended up joining the Beatles.

 John started his own band with his friend Ivan Vaughan, in 1955. It was he who introduced John to Paul McCartney. John married his girlfriend Cynthia Powell in 1962. She was pregnant with their son Julian, who was born in April in 1963.

 John Lennon was found dead outside his new home in New York in 1980. He Had been shot by a lone gunman, Mark Chapman. Huge crowds went to his Funeral. Everyone was really upset, especially his wife, Yoko Ono and sons, Julian and Sean. It was such a shame to lose such a gifted musician, so young.
