South St. Records are proud to launch the debut solo album of Yvonne Breathnach -
Yvonne Breathnach was previously lead female vocalist with New Ross Group Barrowside, and recorded two albums on the Round Tower label. Yvonne is also featured on Round Tower's last two compilation albums. She has toured extensively with Barrowside, visiting the USA, UK and Europe, among the highlights being a performance at the Lillehammer Winter Olympics in Norway. Recently formed South St. Records, based in New Ross, Co. Wexford, Ireland, are very pleased that Yvonne was able to choose for the album nine original songs. These songs were written by talented songwriters who reside locally. Four of the tracks are written by Barrowside songwriting team Bob and Marie Van Son, and five are written by Paul Grant of Slieverue, Co. Kilkenny, one in collaboration with Paul Foskin of Waterford. Yvonne is joined by top class musicians Peter Eades, Noel Bridgeman, Noel Healy and Christy Sheridan. It is an album that offers a rich tapestry of music melody and human emotion from the lullaby Dream On and the haunting Just a Ghost to the reflective Mother and Child and the sadness of Daddy, with the only cover being a percussion, up-beat version of Kiki Dee's Loving and Free. Once described as angel-voiced by an Italian reviewer and while there is an innocent quality to the voice, there will be no douting by those who listen to Just a Ghost that Yvonne Breathnach is a serious interpreter who gets to the heart of the matter. |
