Take the turnoff at Ballyhea, 2 miles south of Charleville. Start at car park, grid ref R 582 184. Climb the main track up the first hill, once over this, turn left, then immediately right, this leads to a steep section up to the antenna mast, then east to join the climb up to the highest point. You may meet some 4x4s up here. There is a steep descent into Ardpatrick, turn left halfway down. There is a short climb followed by a descent to the road. Take the track to the left leading back up to the antenna mast. Descend via the original route but take the right hand track at the bottom of the steep section. Turn left near the bottom to return to the car park. There are some newer routes which are better.
