CREATIVE ARTS VENTURE, WICKLOW

IN THE BEGINNING THERE WAS FUN

We played games, used our imagination, sketched, painted and created art and sculpture, songs and stories. We laughed with our friends, shared our struggles.

We learned the rules Ц how to understand and get along with each other. We learned about ourselves, developed our personalities and attitudes. We gained confidence and self-esteem, took pride in our work, expressed ourselves. Life was stress-free and happy and learning was fun. Then came criticism and reserve which said: no more of this frivolity! Thou shalt work and labour hard; thou shalt be polite and mannerly; thou shalt have sense!
The good news is that here at THE CAVE we've kicked out criticism and reserve Ц we've packed their bags and sent them on a one-way trip to oblivion! Fun is back! Come to the cave and join us.

FOR CHILDREN

CREATIVE DRAMA

Kids! Switch off the TV and come along with your friends to THE CAVE. Let your imagination take you to the four corners of the Earth, and beyond! Outwit the bad guys, learn what it means to be a true hero, and still be home in time for tea!

ART & CRAFT

Save your pocket money! Make useful things for your room and presents for your friends and family. Clay, dough, woodcraft, painting, collage, puppets, you name it Ц we got it!

STORIES FOR LITTLE CHILDREN

Granny Reilly introduces little children (3 Ц 6 years) to the magical wonderland of classical stories, literature, poetry and folklore. Interactive format encourages children to listen and contribute.

FOR TEENAGERS

CREATIVE DRAMA

Teenagers Ц you have a lot to offer! Explore your own ideas and imagination through role-play, improvisation, theatre games, mime, movement and music and group discussion. Make sense of how your life is unfolding, understand feelings, attitudes and relationships and most of all, have fun with your friends! This is a voyage of discovery Ц don't miss the boat!

ART & CRAFTS

If you have enjoyed art and crafts before, there's no reason to stop now. This is your time and space to put your creative energies to good use. Enjoy art for art's sake Ц no exams, no competition and no experience necessary! A great way for you and your friends to spend the evening.

SONGWRITING

Do you ever sing tunes just coming into your head? Or rhymes? Or a line or a phrase which could be put to music? Don't stifle it Ц you'll find enthusiasm and encouragement here to write songs for yourself, with your friends or with your band. And maybe somedayЕ?

FOR ADULTS

CREATIVE DRAMA

Stuck at home? Fed up with the same old humdrum routine? Are creativity and fun missing from your life? Creative drama gives you the opportunity to become somebody else Ц to indulge in your daydreams and beat the blues! All contributions are valued and emphasis is on non-judgemental support, with a strong measure of light-heartedness! Suitable for men and women of all ages.

ART & CRAFT

Lines don't have to be drawn straight! Have confidence in your own creativity and discover your hidden artistic talents. Experiment with a wide range of materials and crafts and take pride in the results of your endeavours. Suitable for absolute beginners and improvers, and those who like to dabble at their own pace. Easy atmosphere and plenty of chat!

CREATIVE WRITING

Inside everybody is a story waiting to be told! If you have ever felt that you wanted to write your story Ц as a novel, prose, poetry or children's story, now is your chance to begin. This is an opportunity to stimulate your imagination and find group support, encouragement and motivation.

FOR YOUR ORGANISATION

As well as their creative value, the arts are also particularly beneficial media for interaction, group cohesion and stress management; for social learning, growth of confidence and self-esteem and as a means of self-expression when other means are restricted.

THE CAVE offers an outreach service to groups and organisations such as: women's groups, community resource centres, recreational groups, schools, alternative and adult education, awareness groups, work teams and special needs services.

Programmes are designed with the client group to suit requirements.
