Eircell the first mobilephone company in Ireland which is part of Eircom .They first came out with Analogue phones which where 088 which got transmitted by radio waves   they can be picked up on radios & the radio waves do not travel that far so the analogue was built for mainly for people who lived in towns such as Dublin,Sligo ,Cork , etc.

This technology became obsolete when GSM was developed this technology uses microwaves to transmitted & receive data in mobilephones also GSM aloud you to roam with your phone in other countries . And microwaves travel farther then radiowaves & digitally encrypts the data so no one can listen to your conversations.Put this technology has caused controversy because of the microwaves some people say the microwaves can cause cancer in the Brain but there has been no evidence release to date to support or denie that the microwaves coming out of phones are dangerous to us.

The way one scientist explain how you can get cancer from using the phone is this , in your brain the microwaves from the phone do not effect living cells but if you have a dead brain cell which cant harm you by its self can react.
  But if alot of radiation is applied to the cell it can become effected by the radiation & become cancerous then the cancer could spread & become a brain tumor (this is one scientists opinion). I myself use a mobilephone & am not worried about using it.

Evidence does show that living beside a mobilephone mast can cause  illness' because the mast in transmitting strong microwave radiation out .
I live in a small village in Leitrim & Eircell tried to get planning permission for a mast on the garda station which was beside a holiday centre & on main street .I talk to the county councilor & we talked about the mast he told me that it was the second time Eircell was looking to put it up & in was the second time they where refused he said to me.
"The have a deal with the government that they can put a mast up on any garda station in the country if the planning permission went through he said he new as well as the rest of us that we need a mast up ,but the masts are dangerous if they are beside residential areas .The could of went 5 miles down the road to where there are television masts but they wouldn't bother.

Eircell & Digifone transmits on 1800 & 900 they are just different frequencies so if the phone supports these frequencies if you are in a spot where 1800 is stronger then 900 you use the 1800 frequency  .

& radiation proof leather phone covers which that block up to 98% of radiation from your head.
Also covers made for the Nokia 3210 & 5110 that have a metal shielding in the inside of the cover to stop the radiation.
