- About us:
- Drumdoney Cottage is an early nineteenth century stone built farmhouse, which has been tastefully restored by the Craig Family. The Cottage sleeps six guests in 3 bedrooms with an extra bed if required located on the landing (one bedroom is en-suite while the bathroom has a shower). The farmhouse kitchen with it's original flagstone floor has a stove while the parlour has a wooden floor and an open fire. The Cottage has a large garden with a barbecue and this together with access to the farm provides ample opportunity to relax or take a stroll through the fields overlooking Lough Arrow. The Cottage is well insulated and the oil fired central heating is readily controlled. The front of the Cottage has splendid views of the Bricklieve Mountains while the farmyard is to the rear where you can enjoy the ducks splashing on the pond or collect your own freshly laid eggs.
- The Lough Arrow Region
- The Lough Arrow region has many attractions to offer the visitor and Drumdoney Farmhouse Cottage, set in the heart of the area, makes the ideal base from which to explore them. Sligo Town has much to offer with shops, museums, art galleries, cinema, theatre, swimming pool, cafes, restaurants and pubs. It is only 20 minutes away by car and public transport is available in the Village of Castlebaldwin.
- Activities:
- Fishing
- The Lough is spring fed with a number of small feeder streams providing valuable spawning grounds for the large population of wild natural fish. Coarse fishing is also available within a few miles of the Cottage.
- Golfing
- There are a number of good quality courses with full facilities in close proximity.
- Hill Walking
- The Historical Way, which links to the Miner's Way, crosses most of the important and ancient sites in the Lough Arrow area. The Cottage makes an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding mountains and hills, and from the top of the Bricklieves on the western shore of Lough Arrow, one can enjoy walking amongst the remains of ancient civilisation and experience the panoramic views overlooking the lake.
- Archaeology
- The Lough Arrow Region contains some of the best preserved archaeological remains in the country, providing a physical reminder of the continuing human activity in the area over the last 7000 years.
