Engine Options

The X-AIR has todate be fitted with a large variety of engines.
Most common to date is the Rotax 582DCDI.
The most commonlly used propellor is 2 or 3 blade carbon fibre DUC ground adjustable.

The New Verner 133M 4 stroke is now becoming the preffered choice, with it's extra power and torque. Along with the Jabiru 2200 has seen a shift towards the four stroke engines on the Xair.

There are a couple of Rotax 912 examples also flying, but the engine is a lot heavier than the Verner or Jabiru and means a lot less payload.
One of the great benifits of fitting a four stroke is the improved range, adding an extra two hours to the endurance.

Quite a few BMW R100 Boxer engine (4 stroke), have now been fitted with 5 examples flying in Ireland.
This engine is cheap to obtain and now that all the hard work has been done is a very economical way of fitting a four stroke engine to your aircraft. see article
A few HKS 4 stroke engines have also been fitted and have proven to be very economical although a bit underpowered.
